Exam Level & Pattern of Rajasthan Judicial Services (RJS)

To be eligible for Rajasthan Judicial Services, it is said that there are three stages: preliminary, mains, and interview. 

Prelims Exam

It is considered the first step toward the selection stage. The preliminary exam is a qualifying exam that helps eliminate selected applicants for the main exam. 

  • Total Marks: 100

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Exam Type: Objective-type questions (MCQs)

  • Subjects Covered: Law-related subjects, such as the Constitution of India, Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act, English proficiency, and Hindi proficiency.

The preliminary exam only serves for shortlisting for mains exam and is not included in the merit list.

Mains Exam

The mains exam is more analytical than prelims. The Mains exam is a descriptive test.

  • Total Marks: 300 (law papers 1 & 2 are 100 marks each.) (English and hindi papers are of 50 marks each.)

  • Exam Type: Descriptive

  • Subjects: Law (Paper 1 & Paper 2), Language (Hindi, English)

  • Duration: Each law paper lasts for 3 hours and 2 hours for language papers.

  • Subjects Covered: Detailed study of law, including substantive and procedural laws such as the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act, etc.

The marks obtained in the mains exam are crucial to the merit list at the end.

Interview
